The YMC Autumn/Winter 2019 collection is rooted in the bold trends of ‘90s Manchester, the home of a musical and cultural revolution for British youth. While young trendsetters spilled in and out of clubs, Manchester did what it always does: it rained. The cold weather didn’t stop the movement, wind and rain was combatted by casual jackets that could be layered or taken off and tied around the waist. These jackets were certainly not made of premium cotton corduroy or 100% cowhide leather, but the sentiment is the same; YMC’s new-season collection is punctuated by highlight transitional jackets and here are our favourites.

YMC Olive Pinkley Jacket

Cut from textured cord woven in Italy and fully lined in herringbone cotton, the Pinkley Jacket exudes subtle luxury in a way that only YMC can. The garment dyed material boasts a worn-in look as well as being extremely soft to the touch. Topped off with corozo buttons and statement elbow patches, this jacket is made to be worn hard.

YMC Navy Erkin Jacket

Characterised by a shawl collar, the Erkin Jacket is fully quilted which makes for an irresistibly warm final product for the colder months. Reminiscent of Japanese tailoring, YMC strike a balance between statement styling and pared-back detailing so that this jacket doesn’t call for attention but shows sartorial flair and personality.

YMC Olive Groundhog Jacket

The Groundhog Jacket is one of the the label’s returning designs and we’re glad to see it back for YMC Autumn/Winter 2019. The cotton-rich twill shell is woven in Italy before going through YMC’s signature garment dying process to give the piece a pre-loved finish. The basic design of this jacket, including corozo button fastening and a spread collar, makes styling a simple task.

YMC Navy Casuals Jacket

The Casuals Jacket is, as it turns out, a great option for a casual look. Thanks to the elasticated hem, the jacket has a sporty shape that contrasts with the smarter 100% cotton corduroy construction. A full brushed cotton lining makes this a contender all autumn and all winter.

YMC Grey Jocks Jacket

It’s a statement indeed, but a statement made in YMC’s signature restrained fashion. We’re not usually big on leopard print jackets, but we can’t stop thinking about this fully lined 100% genuine cowhide leather piece. Two exaggerated patch pockets punctuate the front of the jacket, adding a final touch to the season’s highlight piece.
