The story of Vuarnet began in 1957 in Roger Pouilloux’s workshop on Paris’ Boissy d’Anglas. The avant-garde optician and ski enthusiast would revolutionise the world of sunglasses by inventing an exceptional lens capable of both protecting him on the slopes and offering depth and perception in overcast weather.
Roger then met Jean Vuarnet in 1959, and offered the French ski champion a pair of 02 frames – and it was these glasses that Vaurnet went on to win the downhill skiing gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics. Following, this victory, the two men joined forces to create a brand that reflected their character; innovative, efficient and elegant.
