With current trends being steered by the art of simplicity, seldom do you see designers take inspiration from pre-Socratic influences. Yet, Heraclitus of Ephesus was the very source of inspiration for designers Luis H.Vicencio, Fabrizio Guarrasi and Mattia Antonetti, in both name and concept, when they created the Panta Rei Light Cube Design.

Specifically referencing the philosopher’s observation that ‘everything flows’, the design exists as a simplistic, intriguing cubic sculpture which has been carved with a multitude of levels to run deep through the heart of the wood. It is said that the primary factor of design is proportions; and in the respect, the Panta Rei Light is incisively clinical.

Take a closer look at the design below and check out the Anglepoise Giant Lamp Collection for a wholly different take on interior lighting.
