“Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can aesthetics. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated.”

Complications aside, Australian-based studio DX Architects have managed to demonstrate the simplicity of design with the Burnley Residential Renovation in Melbourne, Australia.

The residential renovation created an open plan living area which connected the secluded back garden with the typical inner-city single fronted site. The aim of the design, through the installation of industrial-inspired glass windows and a pitched roof, was to maximise the light within the boundaries of the home’s traditional construction.

The interior was completed with the same design focus, as it was finished with custom painted black accents across the hardware and fittings and was complimented by oak timber engineered flooring.
