One of the hardest things about buying wall art is finding prints and posters that are actually original; as a print says nothing about you if every other house in the street has it too. But that is what makes THE POSTER CLUB particularly special. Founded in 2015 by Thomas Nissen, THE POSTER CLUB’s unique curation of hand-picked posters sees them produce a range of distinctive, hard to find prints, that bring the desired Scandinavian aesthetic into the heart of any home. Check out five of the stand-out prints from the latest THE POSTER CLUB collection below.
Behind LouLou Avenue is Liv Ann van der Laan, a Dutch visual artist inspired by human expression, music, street style and vintage portrait photography. Her work, mostly with ink or charcoal is dreamy and refined with some raw edges. None more so impressive than the Sunset Vibes Print which is one of THE POSTER CLUB’s limited-edition prints for 2018.
‘For me beautiful things don’t have to be polished and new, as I think perfections are imperfect. I get my inspiration mostly from nature. I love long walks, lazy mornings and the smell of the summer forest.’ Finish stylist and interior design Riikka Kantinkoski uses those inspirations to create simple geometric shapes and refined colour palettes that incorporate simple shading, lines and colours into a contemporary art prints - as you can see in our favourite poster, the New Form 02 Print.
Because THE POSTER CLUB collaborate with a range of different influencers across Scandinavia, the prints they have on offer are rather eclectic. This Naïve Print by Lisa Wirenfelt maintains the widespread minimalist approach to THE POSTER CLUB’s prints but it injects a vivid splash and colour alongside beautiful patterns and textures to add an unpredictable direction to the art print collection.
It’s the balance between the raw and unpolished that makes all of Mogensen’s pieces so special – as the tension between the controlled and uncontrolled ensures each composition is dramatic as well as contemporary. This No.10 Print is a particular favourite as the colour clashes and water colour creates a dreamlike expression of a colourful, abstract universe. A bit better than your average art print.
