This finely detailed model depicts the NART 250LM Ferrari, victorious at the 33rd edition of the 24 Heures Du Mans in 1965. The last Le Mans that the Italian stable would ever win, this North American Racing Team entry enjoyed a legendary win, beating the arguably favoured Ford GT40s, all of which retired before midnight. Piloted officially by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory, it is fabled that a third, unrecorded driver, delivered a stunning stint in this car in the small hours of the morning. Ed Hugus, the first Shelby dealer, is thought to have jumped into the Ferrari in lieu of Rindt, who had gone missing in action from the le Sarthe track.
reports suggested that he may even have gone to Paris for dinner! Gregory eventually took over at sunrise and the squad snatched eventual victory from the hands of Belgians Pierre Dumay and Gustave Gosselin, also racing a 275LM Ferrari. This leading car had suffered a puncture and had picked up resulting damaged bodywork, allowing the American drivers to claim the crown.
