Eksell Display is a unique typeface from 1962. Olle was a prolific artist who couldn’t resist sketching out whatever ideas came to mind. His work covered a broad range, but this was the only complete typeface. The letters were drawn by hand in Olle’s five square meter studio in Stockholm, six years after he designed the classic Mazetti eyes. We carefully digitized the letters and developed a family of four optical styles, including a stencil version. Have fun with it, we think Olle did.

Olle Eksell was a Swedish graphic designer and poster artist, and a professor until 2001, who gave shape to the classic ‘eyes’ on the chocolate packages for Ögon Cacao and famously wrote the book Design = Economy.
Olle was seen as a creative designer that was ahead of his time and his most famous illustrations are known to include everything from the crazy and the fantasy-filled to abstract geometric shapes and intricate cityscapes.
