La Bodem offers made-to-order rugs that are handwoven from raw jute, an entirely biodegradable, compostable and recyclable natural fibre. Not only are the rugs beautiful to look at, they're easy on the planet.
La Bodem is a contemporary jute rug label that was established in Amsterdam in 2020 by Marieke van Elsäcker and Florine Beukers. With the aim of offering up a natural and timeless alternative within a market that's dominated by synthetic fibres, the pair settled on jute, a sustainable and durable fibre that's soft on the feet and beautiful to look at.
La Bodem commits to a made-to-order approach rather than mass production, in order to produce only what is needed — no waste, no inventory of unsold goods, no overproduction and no unethical labor. If an item is not needed, it doesn’t get made. La Bodem believes custom-made is the way forward. The label's ultimate goal is to sustain a complete zero-waste production chain that has a positive impact on the planet.
