Oliver Cabell was founded in 2016 by a 27-year-old Scott Gabrielson who had recently moved to the UK to start a business. With no fashion or retail experience, Scott depended on his passion for balanced design and high-quality products to guide him through the treacherous first years of start-up life. His senses served him well because in 2019 Oliver Cabell relocated to the US and a collection that started with minimal men’s sneakers has grown to incorporate some of this season’s best boots for men.
What really sets the label apart from the thriving male footwear market is its price point. Thanks to a direct-to-consumer approach, it can produce top-quality sneakers and boots for a much lower price. By cutting out the retailer mark up, Oliver Cabell can pass the savings on to the customer.
The brand first caught our eye with the timelessness of its White Low 1 style. It boiled down to high-quality materials, premium craftsmanship in ethical factories and minimal styling. When we heard that the label had produced a range of men’s boots, we wondered whether these values would transfer. We’re glad to say that they have.
Inspired by classic military boot styles, the SB 1 is the most popular boot style. In keeping with the label’s focus on minimal design and premium materials, this boot features a water-resistant full-grain leather upper and full leather lining. As for the sole, a custom water-resistant anti-slip studded rubber outsole ensures sure footing on the trickiest terrains. You can tell that Oliver Cabell’s SB 1 is built for the future because the Blake stitch used on the sole means that any cobbler will be able to easily resole this style.
Mock features top stitching throughout which, combined with a lightweight wedge Vibram outsole, makes this Oliver Cabell’s lightest and most comfortable boot. The white Vibram sole has a distinctively casual aesthetic that draws links between this men’s boot and sporty sneaker styles. Mock’s uppers use a fine suede sourced from a small tannery in Albacete, Spain.
Oliver Cabell’s Chelsea Boots hark back to the style’s British roots with a clean, premium suede upper. The model features a modern Italian crepe sole made from 100% pure virgin Hevea milk. This is not only a completely natural material but is extremely comfortable and long-lasting. Every modern gent’s wardrobe should contain at least one pair of premium Chelsea boots, and this would be a sensible place to start.
The Oliver Cabell Wilson Boot is a classic men's military boot. Boasting a similar shape to the SB1 style, Wilson ends slightly higher above the ankle, making it a better choice for more active situations. While it is certainly refined enough for everyday wear around your city, the higher ankle shaft and added speed hook lacing system offer enough support for hiking.
