YMC are a long-standing feature at OPUMO. While we do stock young brands that are still experimenting with their personal aesthetics, YMC is long past that. The brand exudes a personal confidence that has been earned over its 14 years in business. Each collection sees a core of staple t-shirts, jumpers and trousers combined with more creative highlights. YMC’s newest collection is no departure from this trend; classic styles like bomber jackets, fleeces and crewneck jumpers are given the full treatment with high-quality materials and exaggerated cuts. We love styling YMC because it presents so many possibilities, so here are a few of our favourite style combinations from YMC’s new collection.
For Everyday Comfort
When it comes to relaxed fits, YMC have perfected it. Never one for tight trousers, the YMC Grey Alva Skate Pants are an ideal basis for a relaxed outfit. The loose legs allow easy movement, and the unique cotton-elastane combination is comfortable and smooth to the touch. The waistband shows that the Alva pants were always destined for a relaxed outfit, but when covered, the trousers can be worn in smarter ensembles, proving their versatility.
We are pairing the Alva pants with YMC’s Off White Oversized Short Sleeve T Shirt. Although it’s a basic staple, this may be our favourite piece of the new collection. We particularly like the cut - the boxy shape of the torso and the dropped shoulders provide a more-than-relaxed fit. It’s effortlessly understated, and combine that with the off white hue, then this really is the perfect t-shirt. In partnership with the Alva pants, your look is low-key but with considerable personality and, most importantly, super comfortable.
A Walk Around Town
You’re heading out for a wander, maybe a coffee and a spot of shopping. You don’t want to look smart, but also not scruffy, what do you reach for? Well, the YMC’s Indigo MK2 Jacket. This denim jacket is constructed from Japanese indigo selvedge denim in collaboration with Hawksmill Denim Co. The high quality raw denim will age over time, becoming a canvas for your story, unique to you. Alternatively, you could always opt for long-time favourite, the YMC Beach Jacket, which has been given a full teddy fleece upgrade for 2020, making it the perfect jacket to wear in this turbulent in-between time of year.
Underneath the denim jacket, go with the YMC Multi Wild Ones Tee for a burst of colours that compliment the indigo. It’s 100% cotton so it’s extremely soft to the touch, and if you take care of it it’ll be around for a long time. While denim jackets can definitely be dressed up, this t-shirt makes your look lean more to the casual side.
Out For Drinks
YMC’s Off White Oversized Sweatshirt is a great foundation for a look. The off white colour way is subtle and easy to style, while the textured reverse heavy slub jersey construction gives it a unique look and feel.
Pick the YMC Navy / Rust Tuf Bomber on top of the sweatshirt. The off white sweater compliments the dark blue and rust colouring of the bomber. The bomber is a casual YMC jacket that has been elevated by the materials used: the Japanese sateen is certainly stand-out yet understated and elegant.
