Since 1995, YMC (You Must Create) has been releasing timeless mens’ clothing. Always refusing to follow modern menswear trends, YMC have built their own style: effortlessly cool, relaxed silhouettes are formed of top-quality materials. Autumn/Winter ’18 sees no change on this front, this time in the form of knitwear. YMC’s “Nature Boy” collection is an ode to the great outdoors, with exaggerated cuts focused on layering. The autumn colour palette is evident, deep blues contrast with smooth off-whites while a warm rust orange epitomises autumn in one single hue. This is not to mention the materials used for the collection. We at OPUMO look forward to Autumn/Winter for a few reasons, but one that stands out is being allowed to wear wool again. Merino jumpers and cashmere sweaters run throughout this collection for soft, light warmth. It has it all.
Navy Pocket V Neck Knit
This fisherman’s rib knit is guaranteed to keep you warm this autumn. The fisherman’s rib stitch uses large amounts of wool for extra warmth in crashing waves. Luckily, we’re guessing that you probably won’t be facing any roaring waves in this YMC rendition. Constructed of 100% wool, contrasting stitches on the shoulders, cuff and hem add texture to this sweater. The deep v-neck lends a memorable look to upgrade your autumn outfits.
Navy Birds Eye Crew
We couldn’t do an Autumn/Winter round-up without a classic crewneck. YMC take classic knitwear seriously, a thick rib neck and hem throws you back to Scottish fisherman efficiency. The 100% wool construction carries a knitted birdseye jacquard pattern. Pair this knit with heavy cords or woollen trousers to look cool while you’re warm this season.
Crema Montant Turtleneck
Although it’s not as thick as the previous two picks, the Montand turtleneck makes up for it with it’s cashmere and merino construction. Known for their soft touch and lightness, merino and cashmere are perfect wools for layering. This cream turtleneck will fit under a blazer as a casual utilitarian touch to a more formal outfit. The Montand jumper also comes in a navy colourway but we think the cream hue provides a perfect blank canvas for styling.
Rust Baseball Cardy
One of the standout pieces from the collection is this 100% brushed lambswool cardigan in an eye-catching and undeniably autumnal burnt orange. It’s all about the details with this item: wooden buttons, the uneven knit pattern of textured wool and the varsity-inspired collar. We would suggest getting this a little oversized for that relaxed look, but YMC already thought about that. Like the rest of the collection, this casual cardigan will look expertly relaxed at all times thanks to the oversized silhouette.
