The Converse story

Originally founded by Marquis Mills Converse in 1908 – and later made famous by the basketball player Mr Chuck Taylor - Converse has long been associated with sport, music and youth culture. The brand’s white toe-capped sneakers first made an appearance in 1908, and the classic Converse All Star debuted as a basketball shoe a little bit later on in 1920.

The name – Converse All Star – stuck. But the modest expectations for this shoe were rapidly surpassed. Originally designed for sinking jump shots on the court, the Converse All-Star quickly made its way to the streets, with fashion-forward folk wearing them everywhere from skate parks to pop stages. The classic high-top Converse silhouette was a sneaker with infinite potential. And today, nothing has changed, as Converse offers a ‘blank canvas’ shoe that allows you to rework and reimagine the classic toe-capped sneaker in every way possible. In fact, Converse’s most popular sneakers have been reinterpreted in a number of different ways, and Converse has produced iconic reworks with a number of different artists and designers, including Comme des Garçons, Tyler The Creator and Nike.

Converse sizing notes

Converse's enduring commitment to comfort means that each pair of Converse sneakers should fit and feel exceptional. Note that certain Converse styles can feel a bit narrow, but as they break in and the canvas loosens, they should mould to your foot for a better fit. If you're unsure of your exact size, measure your foot and use our detailed size charts below to find the appropriate size. You can also always order a half size up and a half size down, and return the one that doesn't fit. It's hassle-free, with free processing on all returns.
