Come the end of days, likely survivors will be cockroaches and Toyota 4x4s. Particularly this one – a Land Cruiser LC76, heavily modified by the off-road obsessives at PVS Automotive based in Sydney, Australia. Rugged on the outside, sybaritic within, this is one Land Cruiser that turns heads when you see it, and adds a gasp when you step inside. If this is your transport to the end of the world, you’re going to be nice and comfortable at the last.
Basis for bespoke build - the first by PVS Automotive, who specialise in all and any modifications to a range of off-roaders - is, deep breath, a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 76 Series GXL automatic. Or in standard parlance, the old shape before the new on-trend squared off Land Cruiser impressed motoring journalists and Land Cruiser newbies alike. The LC76 series though speaks of an ageless toughness of the sort that aficionados relish, with more than just a touch of original Land Rover Defender about it. Which is a good thing.

Rest assured: ladder chassis and no-compromise utilitarian shape remain. But now the LC76 has added to it just about every modification available, mostly from those offered by Chinese go-to providers Urnieta. Idea say PVS is to offer "a strong road presence” so that the LC76 "feels more like a limited-run special than a basic work wagon”. Fresh front bumper offers more aggressive face to the Land Cruiser. Add to that side steps for easy access; roof platform for, for instance, big game viewing; rear ladder to access roof; stylish forged wheels and a neat drawer system under the load floor which is ideal for snacks on the go. Or ingredients for cocktails.

And just wait until you step inside. Perhaps wear your shades to do so. Alcantara 9055 - a sharp blue - is used to reupholster Recaro Cross Sportster GK100 front seats, rear bench and just about anything else the team at PVS could lay their hands on. Bright orange seat belts neatly complement the Alcantara’s matching stitching. Carbon detailed steering wheel and carbon covered vents add more personality. This is an interior that could easily have gone wrong. Thing is, it seems so right.

A bespoke maxxed-out Land Cruiser won’t be for everyone. Standard LC76 Land Cruisers are easily tough and capable enough to tackle just about anything that you can imagine from your everyday life with dismissive competence. And yet this is a build where style meets substance. So, if you’re keen on planning for the most pessimistic of futures, there’s good news: this unique Land Cruiser is up for sale, with shipping easily arranged from Sydney. Basic price - before that shipping - of £99,140 might seem a little steep - a new generation Land Cruiser comes in at around £10,000 cheaper - but there can be no price on ultimate survival, can there? See you for cocktails at the last sunset.
