There are few Belgian brands that have managed to make more of an international success than Bellerose. Founded in 1989 – and having just launched its latest collection on OPUMO – it is now one of the most reliable menswear brands in the world, and has exerted its simple but effective aesthetic of menswear across the planet, reaching a point where they successfully blend the experience that they’ve gained along the way as a foundation for all of their collections. In doing so, they build on the lessons of the past to consistently create something modern. You can see the level of craft in every piece in the new Bellerose drop, including the Daimer Knitted Crew Jumper – cut from a lightweight cotton that feels like linen and in a fit that will suit any occasion thanks to its heavy ribbed construction and raglan sleeves. The new collection is full of items and key pieces that wear well and that’s because they’re incredibly well-crafted and refined, so you can wear them with anything and everything. To celebrate the arrival of Bellerose SS19 we’ve picked out five of our favourite pieces from the brand’s new collection.
This interchangeable liner is so well made that it doesn’t even have to be a liner. While it is slim and lightweight enough to wear under a jacket, its high level of execution means that it can also be worn as a top layer. It looks great – whether you go for dark blue or a more striking yellow reversible inner colour, – as well as feeling great, thanks to it’s 100% down padding.
Every piece that the Bellerose produces has eight steps to creation; craftsmanship, comfort, experience, fabrics, focus, humour, opposites and family. Each of which contributes to the final Bellerose product – a good-looking men’s staple with history, personality and quality. This Daini Zip Cardigan wraps up all of those qualities into one of essential mid-weight layer. Quarter zip and full-zip knitwear are some of the most astute layers that you can have in your wardrobe thanks to their versatility and neatly understated shape. This zip jacket, which takes its drop shoulders and ribbed structure from a classic cardigan, has got the lot; including a two-way zipper, zip-up funnel neck and a mid-weight ribbed structure.
Bellerose’s military-inspired overshirt is a great example of how to combine old silhouettes with modern execution and techniques. The 100% Japanese cotton shell is durable and looks immaculate. The ideal layering tool for transitional weather.
The Jey Jacket is both smart and relaxed at once, mirrored in its equally versatile water-repellent cotton blend construction. Although the jacket is refined with an array of traditional touches in the form of the storm pockets and invisible snap closure, the jacket is cut in regular fit which is also fully adjustable thanks to the button closure on the reverse.
