Commuting done right
When Melbourne’s cycling specialists MAAP teamed up with Parisian bag designers côte&ciel, the result was inevitable: a meeting of technical expertise and striking design. The two brands, each known for their unique approach to functional style, have released a collection of three versatile bags aimed squarely at those navigating busy, modern lives.
Unveiled today, the MAAP x côte&ciel collection blends the former’s reputation for high-performance (but stylish) cycling gear with the latter’s distinct eye for sculptural, contemporary design. The result is a range of bags that balance utility with a pared-back aesthetic—pieces that work as hard as the people carrying them.
The Collection:
SARU Daypack
The SARU is the kind of daypack designed to handle the chaos of everyday life without looking out of place in a sleek, urban setting. Its symmetrical shape and water-resistant materials make it equal parts practical and polished. Featuring three external pockets and a padded compartment for laptops up to 16 inches, it’s a compact yet accommodating option for carrying the essentials and then some.
ISARAU Cross-Body Bag
The ISARAU takes a more adaptable approach to carrying. Slim and lightweight, it can be worn across the chest, over the back, or even around the waist. Despite its streamlined silhouette, there’s room for a laptop (up to 14 inches) alongside other essentials. The water-repellent materials and understated design make it equally at home in transit or at your destination.
SLING BAG Pouch
For those who prefer to carry just the essentials, the SLING BAG keeps things simple. Compact and lightweight, it’s a fuss-free option for smaller items like phones, keys, and wallets. Internal compartments ensure everything stays organised, while the minimalist design remains unobtrusive whether you’re on foot, or on wheels.
MAAP x côte&ciel: The details
The collection is available in two colourways: a classic black with subtle accents and a MAAP-exclusive uniform blue, a nod to the cycling brand’s roots. While each piece brings its own strengths, they share a focus on simplicity, adaptability, and durability—qualities that are increasingly essential in a world that rarely stands still.
This collaboration is a reflection of the growing demand for accessories that bridge the gap between form and function. With MAAP’s technical insight and côte&ciel’s bold design philosophy, the bags are a natural extension of both brands’ values. Whether or not you’re a cyclist, they feel like an acknowledgment of the way people move through the world today.
