German designer Valentin Loellmann explores the intricacies of sculpture and organic material to create a collection of furniture that gets ‘as close as possible to authenticity.’

The ‘Brass Furniture’ collection includes ornate chairs, tables and even an oval sofa that rest upon slender tapered metal legs. Elsewhere, the collection includes a range of tabletops and seats that are crafted from an individual section of walnut or oak that has been charred black before polishing in order to achieve the exquisite high-shine finish.

The elegant sculptural furniture series was inspired by haute-couture and that devotion to detail is represented through the painstaking approach it takes to assemble and produce each piece in the collection. For example, Loellmann first creates the metal framework before screwing the wood to the structure. Advancing to cut patterns and plates of brass and bending them to the furniture – before polishing the surfaces to create the unique and individual character of each piece.
