The appeal of the cafe racer is obvious. Retro looks combined with agility and exciting performance is a winning combination every time, but it’s one that’s missing from Ducati’s current lineup. The Italian marque doesn’t currently have a true cafe racer in its lineup, which is where Belgium-based Barn Built Bikes comes in. Its custom Ducati SuperSport 1000DS harks back to the ‘70s with its sleek bodywork and Tricolore colouring - it’s an example of what can be achieved with a little imagination.
Originally a 2007 SuperSport model, this custom has had a complete overhaul, transforming the look and feel of the bike. Featuring a HERT custom endurance fuel tank in keeping with ‘70s styles, as well as a reshaped frame, Alpina tubeless spoked wheels, a custom seat and rear cowling and Linea HJC exhausts, it looks like a lightweight racer from decades gone-by.
This Ducati SuperSport 1000DS also boasts custom Tricolore paintwork in red, white and green, befitting of its Italian heritage. With the look of a ‘70s cafe racer combined with modern performance and reliability, this machine is both a head turner and an exciting daily runner.
