Two-wheeled electric style has never looked quite so good. Or gone quite so fast. Meet the one-off Droog x Land District, a battery powered custom machine like no other. On the one hand it’s an eBike, perfect for commuting and errands around town. On the other it’s a potent electric motorcycle with off-road capability and a surprisingly high top speed. And then there’s the way it looks.
Stealth-style customisation is the trademark of Max and Erica Droog’s Washington State workshop. Each and every machine that emerges from their studio carries the aura of intent. Theirs are creatures of the night. And so it is here. Droog have taken an innocent electric Street Scrambler made by Cleveland, Ohio specialists Land Moto and turned it into a one-off machine that embraces the dark side.
Over-sized tyres on disc-style wheels announce a unique presence, as well as allowing you to take the fast route off-road whenever inclination or need dictates. After all, the promise of Droog is - as they put it - to be "the architects of exhilarating experiences and the purveyors of unparalleled craftsmanship”. Four selectable ride modes make sure that appropriate amounts of instantly-there power are ready whatever the occasion.
Diagonal LED headlamp is a Droog signature. Forged carbon fibre accents add to the appeal of the bespoke suit this electric motorcycle wears, monoshock rear suspension ensures that whatever the terrain, you’re going to be comfortable. Structurally, the rear subframe has been shortened and equipped with a new saddle for maximum manoeuvrability - and more than a little aggressive style.
Droog’s own wide handlebars add to the overall aesthetic of electric menace. Minimalist style is enhanced by the lack of a speedometer. Your phone, using a dedicated app and in its own holster, provides a custom dashboard.
Droog x Land District: All that power
All of this would be as of nothing without the promise of real power and on that the Droog x Land District delivers in spades, depending on your needs. Select eBike mode and you’ll be limited to just 27 mph, while eMoped takes you to 40 mph and eMotorcycle all the way to 70 mph. Not enough? Dial the mode up to Performance and you’re good for 70+ mph.
Overall there’s 23 bhp available, which doesn’t sound much until you consider the light weight of the Droog x Land District. Charge it up in just five and a half hours, and you have 120 miles available. Depending, naturally, on how generous you’re being with the ride modes.
As we’ve said, Droog are making just one of these collaborations. So you won’t see another as you patrol your local streets by night. Or range over your local trails by day. Land's basic Street Scramblers start at £5,629 and they’re already formidable transport companions. Naturally the input of Droog Moto and their work on this machine doesn’t come cheap. Bespoke build makes the asking price of £13,500 just about reasonable. And yes, we’d love a ride.
