A team kit worth being ridiculed on the group ride for

Pro cycling regalia has a longstanding reputation for being headache-inducingly bright, busy and not particularly pleasant to look at. But Melbourne-based MAAP is going to be changing that next year. The label has announced its entry into the UCI WorldTour as the official technical supplier for fellow Australian outfit GreenEDGE Cycling. Starting in 2025, the partnership will see MAAP outfitting Team Jayco AlUla, Liv AlUla Jayco, and the Liv AlUla Jayco Continental Team with a performance kit designed to turn heads in the peloton and on the podium.

The kit is an unmistakable statement of intent, blending MAAP’s signature design ethos with influences from the Australian Outback and the AlUla desert. Deep ‘Midnight’ blues and rich ‘Aurora’ violets evoke desert skies and the Southern Lights, while the ‘Shadow’ bibs channel the brand’s progressive attitude and resistance to fleeting trends. Accents of green, nodding to GreenEDGE’s legacy, tie the design back to the team’s storied history in the pro peloton.

Designed for speed, the kit draws inspiration from motion blur, photo finishes, and wind tunnel testing. Every element is engineered for performance, from the lightweight, aerodynamic fabrics to the technical features tailored to the demands of WorldTour racing. MAAP collaborated directly with GreenEDGE’s riders to push the boundaries of its apparel, resulting in exclusive innovations that will make their debut in the 2025 season.

MAAP GreenEdge Cycling: A fitting union

Jarrad Smith, MAAP’s co-CEO and co-founder, highlighted the kit’s fusion of style and function. “This partnership allows us to showcase what we do best—creating apparel that performs at the highest level while making a bold visual impact,” he said. Co-CEO Oliver Cousins echoed the sentiment, emphasising MAAP’s mission to bring fresh perspectives to professional cycling.

The collaboration marks a turning point for MAAP, elevating its reputation from a supporter of development teams like Trinity Racing to a key player in the WorldTour. Fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the design, with replica kits set to launch in 2025 via MAAP’s website and LaB retail spaces.

GreenEDGE owner Gerry Ryan praised the partnership, calling it a natural fit. “MAAP’s approach to apparel will ensure our team stands out on and off the bike,” he said. With its bold design and technical prowess, the kit promises to be as much a weapon in the race as the bikes themselves.
