We’re a day away from the beginning of spring which means it’s time to make the leap from winter wardrobe to springtime wardrobe. So, it’s away with the monochrome ensembles of merino wool jumpers and suede Chelsea boots and hello to a pair of classic men’s chinos and anything with a flash of colour. That said, it’s still important to keep it simple; try to pick one central coloured piece per outfit as a rule of thumb and build out your colour scheme from there, surrounding it with compatible but more muted hues. To get the spring wardrobe ball rolling, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite coloured pieces for the coming season.
Percival is known for working contemporary magic on classic silhouettes. The Calvary Twill Outershirt perfectly exemplifies this stance: men’s chore jackets moved fluidly from dedicated workwear to wardrobe staple throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Offered by Percival in a rich amber colour, this piece is the ideal transitional coat for spring.
Baseball caps have been off the menu for the past few months but not for much longer. On the stroke of midnight it becomes an acceptable men’s accessory once more. Especially the Parlez Ladsun Cap, a fine wale corduroy six-panel hat that comes resplendent in yellow for the brighter days.
The short-sleeved cuban collar shirt really found its space in 2019, becoming one of the ubiquitous men’s spring/summer styles. Far Afield’s Selleck S/S Shirt is cut from a textured slub linen fabric and is finished with genuine mother of pearl buttons. Original, eye-catching and functional, this short-sleeve men’s shirt deserves a spot in your wardrobe this season.
Unrecorded takes a minimal, luxurious approach to the world of menswear essentials. Each piece is a no-nonsense, eco-friendly staple with timeless style. The Unrecorded hoodie is made from 100% organic GOTS-certified cotton and comes in a range of primary colours that are sure to distinguish your outfits from the crowd.
When a label has been making one of its styles since it began life, there’s something to be said for that design. In the case of Forét, one of those pieces is the Spruce Sweatshirt, a loopback cotton crewneck sweater for men crafted from 100% organic cotton. This khaki example features elevated terry lettering to the chest in a statement yellow hue that’s perfect as a focal point for an outfit.
