Taking heavy inspiration from 1970s running shoes, but updated with a number of contemporary details, the New Balance 327 is a vintage-inspired sneaker with a difference.

Rather than just re-commission a period correct sneaker, New Balance saw fit to dip into its archives for a retro running shoe mash-up that combines a number of different styles, creating a sort of homage to 1970s sneaker design.

The basic silhouette is there, but the New Balance 327 boasts an oversized ’N’ logo and exaggerated lines and features. The trail runner style sole extends half way up the rear of the heel, while the initial colourways launched boasted split colouring, with one side completely different to the other.

While retro running shoes are nothing new, the New Balance 327 puts enough of a spin on them to separate them from the rest. Try wearing yours with an overshirt and jeans for a laid back take on weekend style.
