Bang & Olufsen is well known for matching outstanding sound with unique design in its range of audio products, so when the Scandinavian brand releases a new speaker, audiophiles rightly take note. The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Balance is the latest design to hit the market, and it brings with it a host of innovative features befitting of the company’s heritage.

The new Bang & Olufsen Beosound Balance comes with Google Assistant, giving it all the functions of Google Home. That means you only need to use your voice to change the volume or song, and you can ask questions about the news, control other devices in your home and perform tasks like setting a morning alarm.

It’s likely the design of the Beosound Balance will appeal most though, and in true B&O fashion, it’s as luxurious as ever. For a bluetooth speaker that costs £1,750 you’d expect only the finest materials to be used, and you’d be right. The base is made from natural solid oak, while the grille and top panel is precision crafted aluminium, ensuring it looks more like a sculpture than a speaker. A tubular knitted fabric is used to cover the main element, which offers 360 degree sound.

Featuring a total of seven drivers, the Bang & Olufsen Beosound Balance speaker is designed to fill a room with well balanced sound and truly impressive bass performance, especially when you consider the relatively small size. It also comes with the brand’s Active Room Compensation, which ensures the sound is optimised for a particular space depending on where it’s placed in the room. Touch panels at the top of the speaker only appear when you’re close by too, furthering the feeling that this sculptural design is more than just a speaker.
