Founded in 1974 by Mauro Sani, Buttero has been manufacturing shoes of the finest quality in the beautiful, sunkissed area of Tuscany, Italy. Remaining in the Sani family all this time, Buttero have slowly moved into more contemporary shoes and sneakers, whilst keeping their passion for tradition, creativity, and authenticity alive, which has kept them at the top of the game for so many years.
Named after the old-time shepherds and cowboys of the area, Buttero originally built its name by creating hardwearing leather riding boots that became recognised worldwide. Many years later Buttero looked to expand with the release of sneakers that would be available in low tops, high tops and chukka boots. After gaining early success in Milan and Tokyo these raw, clean takes on the modern sneaker gained a cult following globally, which continues to grow. All the time keeping to their roots, the shoes are all handmade using the finest Italian vegetable tanned leathers by local skilled craftsman in the Tuscan town of Stabbia. Buttero sneakers continue to build on the pride of honest, elegant and raw shoes that will age beautifully over time, and are therefore stepping up to the game as one of the finest footwear providers around.
