It’s cold and dark out there. If you’re anything like us, you’re probably in need of something to cheer you up and get you looking ahead to warmer times. Thankfully, Goldwin has provided exactly that with the launch of its SS25 collection. The Japanese label’s new range is split across two distinct lines: Performance and Lifestyle, fusing technical details with minimalist artistry.

The Performance Collection channels Goldwin’s ski heritage, boasting advanced outerwear, tops, bottoms, and accessories, crafted to equip outdoor explorers and urban navigators alike. Standout items include the PERTEX SHEILD AIR Mountaineering Jacket, shielding wearers from the elements with precision, and the PERTEX SHIELD AIR A/L Jacket, prized for its resilience and featherlight weight.

The Lifestyle Collection, meanwhile, is more geared towards the everyday, presenting garments that meld athletic functionality with refined casual aesthetics. This line caters to those who seek seamless transitions between cityscapes and wilderness. Highlights feature the PERTEX UNLIMITED 2L Jacket and the Oversized Pocket T-shirt, each engineered for fluid movement and timeless appeal.

Goldwin SS25: Behind the brand

Founded in 1951 as Tsuzawa Knit Fabric Manufacturer in Oyabe, Japan, Goldwin pivoted to sportswear in 1958, debuting its eponymous brand. The label carved a niche in the 1960s with high-performance ski sweaters and by outfitting national ski teams. In 1978, Goldwin began distributing The North Face in Japan, propelling the gorpcore movement. The 1990s saw the brand expanding globally and forging alliances with no shortage of big names. More recently, Goldwin has championed sustainability, teaming up with biomaterial pioneer Spiber to engineer Brewed Protein fiber, a biopolymer born through microbial fermentation.

Goldwin’s dedication to harmonising advanced manufacturing techniques with Japanese minimalism cements its standing in the outerwear realm. The Spring/Summer 2025 collections embody this ethos, delivering pieces that empower a wide spectrum of wearers in a range of environments.
