While many design companies focus on one aspect – be it wall art, furniture, kitchen appliances – PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED take a different approach. The Copenhagen-based studio certainly doesn’t discriminate, its all-encompassing view of design is based around one question: will this design become a long-lasting object that we can someday pass on to our children?
Such a broad but multi-faceted question results in an eclectic collection of design objects that cross genres without being spread too thin. Thanks to a common thread of playful, creative design that communicates the designers’ passion for the craft, the collection feels tightly connected despite the range of objects.
Because it’s a new brand to OPUMO, we thought that we’d show our readers the full breadth of PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED with a rundown of our three favourite products.
Like all of the brand’s work, the Arqui 1 Rug takes inspiration from disparate sources. Featuring a design rooted in architecture, this thick-weaved rug is ideal to add form to a room lacking a focal point as the sharp angles and emphatic shadows of the design will indirectly accentuate pre-existing components in a room. The rug not only looks great but is hand-woven in India by master artisans who have perfected their skills through generations.

PLEASE WAIT to be SEATEDBlack Bondi Chair£315
Designed by Fräg Woodall who grew up in Sydney, the Bondi chair is inspired by his earliest memories of watching artisans at work, in particular fascinated by the way they joined timber. Embodying the rawness of the art, the Bondi Chair in natural ash is neat and precise with no frills. Smooth curves characterise the simple model in a statement of quality craftsmanship. The complete focus on basics means that this piece is as comfortable in a restaurant as it is in a child’s bedroom.
Unlike any lamp that you’ve seen before, the Planet lamp is made up of four metal discs attached by magnets that can be moved around to your liking. The piece uses an indirect ambient halogen light that produces a soft beam, casting shadows on the wall according to how the disks are arranged on the main bar. This dynamic and creative lamp gives you the choice to customise your lighting schemes.
