The Stone Island COMPACT jacket is back

Stone Island has resurrected a rather special jacket to mark 20 years of taste-making fashion retailer Dover Street Market (DSM). The release revisits an archive design from the Italian brand’s glory years, celebrating DSM's enduring influence on global fashion.

The Paul Harvey-designed Stone Island COMPACT jacket, first unveiled 20 years ago, clings to its original blueprint as an aviation-inspired piece. It features a string-and-loop system that allows the body compression to be dialled in depending on the atmospheric pressure, or, more likely, the temperature in the pub.

Stone Island has reimagined the piece with modern techniques and fabrics. Available in three typically innovative material executions, each version boasts a distinct patina that nods to the brand's reputation for unusual textiles. The signature compass patch perches on the left sleeve, an unmistakable mark of Stone Island.

20 years of Dover Street Market

Created by Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo, Dover Street Market emerged in London in 2004. Since then, it has flourished as a beacon of creative expression and a hub for fashion-forward design. Known for spotlighting high-end fashion and cult independent labels alike, DSM has also carved a niche with its high-profile collaborations. Each one feels like an event.

Stone Island is no stranger to partnerships either. The brand has previously teamed up with the likes of Nike, Supreme, and New Balance to name just a small handful. This rerelease deepens its alliance with DSM, amplifying their shared values in craftsmanship, detail, and bold design.

Stone Island and DSM continue to energise the menswear landscape. This jacket exemplifies their shared ethos. For collectors and devotees, it represents a rare find, the kind of piece that connects past and future in a way only these two can manage.

The COMPACT jacket is one of many limited releases expected to commemorate DSM’s anniversary. Keep an eye on the Dover Street Market E-shop from the 29th November for more.
