Perhaps the only shoes you need right now, the right pair of sneakers are both incredibly comfortable and easy to wear with basically anything. As part of our regular series, we highlight the best trainers you can buy right now, from hiking inspired styles to luxurious minimal sneakers.

This week, the Filling Pieces Low Curve Iceman gets the win, but we’ve got a bunch of runners up for you to check out also. These are our sneakers of the week.

Filling Pieces Low Curve Iceman Trimix 2.0

The Amsterdam-based label is known for its ability to flit between producing high-end minimal trainers and expertly designed, more fashion forward silhouettes. The Filling Pieces Low Curve Iceman sits in the latter camp. It’s a hiking inspired style made with a premium nubuck leather and mesh layered upper, with interesting details such as a reflective side panel and a heatseam logo on the heel.

The chunky sole is the star of the show though, and while we wouldn’t recommend ascending actual mountains in them, the Low Curve Iceman is ideal for trekking through town.

Runners up

CQP Jetty

CQP isn’t a brand to compromise on anything, and as such, the level of quality found in its trainers is unparalleled. Handmade from the best available materials including Italian suede and leather, and with metal shanks built into its soles for ultimate support, CQP’s Jetty model is along the lines of what we’ve come to expect from the brand.

A wholecut slip on style, it’s ideal for those without the time or inclination for laces - simply slip them on and you’re ready to go.

Oliver Cabell GAT

If you think you’ve seen this trainer style before then you’re probably right. Introduced in the ‘70s by the Dassler brothers for the German army, this distinct style with its subtly contrasting panels and lightweight gum sole has become somewhat of a classic design.

Oliver Cabell’s take is crafted from Italian leather and suede and is hand-stitched in Spain, ensuring they’ll serve you well for years to come.

ETQ LT 01

ETQ isn’t shy with some of its colour choices, as proven by this dusty pink version of its LT 01 model. A subtle statement pair of trainers, they’re crafted from luxurious violet suede with reinforced TPU outsoles, tonal metal eyelets and memory foam insoles for exacting comfort.

Handmade in Portugal, the LT 01 boasts an enviable silhouette - not too slim, not too chunky, it’s damn near perfect.
