There is something quite comforting about a menswear brand that you return to season after season. A brand so reliable that you know whenever and wherever their next drop will come from you’ll be happy enough to wear it in its entirety. It’s a bit a rarity, but it’s safe to say that YMC is one such brand. That’s not to say they don't have a few surprises up their sleeve, though.
Filled with all-time classics, new outerwear arrivals and a few shirting surprises, the new drop represents another successful chapter in the life and times of one of Britain’s most treasured menswear brands. But, with its lookbook set across a backdrop of the homes and interiors, it still harbours that extra-special feeling of taking you home again. Where that feeling of comfort, reliability and security rises again.
As usual, we’ve pulled together a few of our favourite YMC menswear arrivals below. So, scroll down and check out what you should be wearing this winter from autumn-ready transitional jackets, knits and winter whites.
There’s no better place to start a winter-ready edit than with a YMC Jumper and this Luddites Crew is one of our favourite pieces in the latest collection because it relays the brand’s message of carefree contemporary clothing better than any other. The clean, classic silhouette is finished with a seam free finish for a relaxed look and feel that is complemented by its lightweight and incredibly comfortable merino wool-cashmere blend. Just take a look at the warm brown colour hue, too.
It’s rapidly approaching outerwear season, which is a good enough reason as any to invest in another one. As we have all come to expect, YMC excel in the realms of lightweight, comfortable and multi-functional jackets that are fit for any occasion, and this Groundhogs Jacket is another winner. The classic cropped jacket features an array of classic workwear details from the fold-down collar, front patch pockets and Corozo buttons which are elevated through the durable herringbone cotton construction and contemporary sand colour hue.
It is light jacket season after all, so we’ve thrown another YMC Jacket into the mix. Tactile thanks to its textured micro check wool-linen blend and incredibly comfortable thanks to its neat shawl collar and raglan sleeves, the Beach Jacket also comes with front patch welt pockets, an internal chest pocket and a full lining that makes it a useful layering piece through autumn and it’s the sort of style that can be worn all-year long too. Any excuse to see the navy textured colour hue again, to be honest.
We all have blue shirts, we all like blue shirts. But we don’t think many of you will have one like this YMC Blue Curtis Shirt. Featuring a textured double stripe lightweight cotton, a simple spread collar and small Corozo buttons, it’s the type of blue shirt that is casual enough to wear through the weekend but also unique enough to give a subtle twist to a classic piece of tailoring too.
Here’s a judicious winter wardrobe investment if there ever was one; a flannel cotton shirt. A well-fitting shirt in a light blue colour will last for years and years and can easily become a trusty staple that works through autumn, winter and spring, depending on what you wear it with – t-shirts and light jackets right now, coats, wool trousers and boots in winter. YMC’s Dean Shirt comes in a silhouette that’s thoroughly easy-to-wear and crafted in a lightweight and free melange flannel. It’s a marvel of pattern cutting that will do the groundwork for the rest of your outfit.
If you’re a bit of a traditionalist and you prefer your outerwear to have more of a classic cut, then YMC’s Double Breasted Coat is the perfect choice. The shower-resistant bonded coat is evidence of the brand’s experience of updating traditional menswear staples with a little-personality and as you would expect, functionality. The contemporary oversized fit is available in a warm brown colour hue, which is bolstered by the texture – and the Corozo buttons too – giving the double-breasted coat an easy-on-the eye, warm feel and appearance.
