Welcome to OPUMO's weekly roundup of our favourite shoppable finds. From outerwear to decorative objects and everything in between.

The beach gets a bad rap. For some, it conjures images of overcrowded stretches of sand, overpriced ice creams and the logistical nightmare of carrying half your house across a car park in a tote bag. But done properly, few places offer a better way to spend a summer day. A good beach asks very little of you. Turn up, switch off and stay until the sun starts to dip.

Of course, a little preparation goes a long way. Whether you're planning a weekend on the coast, a long-haul escape or simply making the most of a rare spell of British sunshine, the right gear can make all the difference. Here's what we're packing this summer.

Arc’teryx Granville Tote Bag

Beach bags tend to fall into one of two camps: fashionable but flimsy, or practical but ugly. Arc'teryx's Granville Tote neatly sidesteps both problems. Built from hard-wearing, weather-resistant materials borrowed from the brand's outdoor gear, it's spacious enough for towels, spare clothes and snacks, while remaining clean and understated enough to carry long after summer is over.

Yeti Hodo Beach Chair

Most beach chairs are designed to be tolerated rather than enjoyed. YETI's Hondo takes the opposite approach. Rugged, comfortable and engineered with the sort of overbuilt durability the brand has become famous for, it's the kind of chair you'll still be using years from now. Expensive? Yes. Worth it for anyone who treats beach days as a serious hobby? Also yes.

Tekla Beach Towel

A good beach towel should feel slightly luxurious and not like it belongs in a hotel gift shop. Tekla's striped designs strike that balance perfectly. Made from thick organic cotton and finished in the Danish brand's signature colour combinations, it's a simple upgrade that makes any stretch of sand feel slightly more considered.

FORA Dealer Sunglasses

The best sunglasses are the ones that survive the summer. FORA's Dealer frames are built for beach days, city breaks and everything in between. FORA's Dealer frames combine a timeless shape with lightweight construction and premium ZEISS® lenses, featuring anti-scratch and anti-reflective coatings. Durable enough for daily wear and refined enough for any occasion, they're built for life in the sun, not just holidays.

Frescobol Carioca Linen Shirt

Named after the beach sport that inspired its creation, Frescobol Carioca understands coastal dressing better than most. This embroidered linen shirt is exactly the sort of thing you throw on over swim shorts when lunch turns into afternoon drinks and afternoon drinks turn into dinner. Relaxed, breathable and quietly elegant.

Patagonia 5” Baggies Shorts

There aren't many garments that have achieved true icon status in both outdoor and menswear circles, but Patagonia's Baggies are one of them. Lightweight, quick-drying and cut to a versatile five-inch inseam, they're equally suited to swimming, beach volleyball or a post-swim walk into town. The sort of summer staple that earns its place year after year.

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Sabot

Part trainer, part mule, the Mexico 66 Sabot is one of those rare shoes that feels tailor-made for holiday life. Easy to slip on, lightweight to pack and comfortable enough for long days spent wandering between beach, café and hotel room. It also happens to look considerably cooler than the average flip-flop.

Mikasa V200W Volleyball

No beach setup is complete without something to do once the novelty of lying down wears off. Mikasa's V200W is the official volleyball used in international competition, but don't let that intimidate you. It's durable, easy to spot in the sand and guaranteed to attract at least a few willing participants.

Gregory Alpaca Gear Wagon

For families, overpackers and anyone determined to transport an entire day's worth of equipment in one trip, Gregory's Alpaca Gear Wagon is a game changer. Large wheels help it roll across sand more easily than you'd expect, while the generous cargo space swallows everything from cool boxes to bodyboards with room to spare.

Montbell Cooler Bag

A beach picnic quickly loses its appeal when the drinks are warm and the sandwiches have spent three hours sweating in the sun. Montbell's cooler bag keeps everything fresh while remaining surprisingly lightweight and easy to carry. Functional, unfussy and exactly what you'd expect from one of Japan's most dependable outdoor brands.

Dick Pearce Surfrider Bellyboard

Long before foam surfboards became commonplace, British wave riders were taking to the water on wooden bellyboards. Dick Pearce keeps that tradition alive with handcrafted boards made in Cornwall using sustainable materials. The Surfrider is compact, fun and far easier to master than a surfboard, making it one of the most enjoyable ways to spend an afternoon in the sea.
