The first instalment in the 2015 Spring/Summer collection from Amsterdam-based footwear specialists Filling Pieces is now available in store, with the arrival of the new mountain-cut pleated silhouette at the forefront of the collection.
Sneaker heads will need no introduction to Filling Pieces, following its continuous rise to supremacy, through the brand’s bold use of materials and superior build-quality.
Founded in 2009 by designer Guillaume Philibert out of the desire to create a brand that bridges the gap between budget street wear and high-end fashion, he set out experimenting with designs and styles of what he wanted to wear. Focussing on an uncomplicated combination of functionality and refined detailing, a label was born.
Today, the latest SS15 instalment from Filling Pieces has seen the brand reassert its bespoke brand identity, with texture, materials and rugged styling the key features in this season’s collection.
The grey ‘mountain cut’ low top sneaker is updated through combining pleated leather alongside super-supple nubuck, which serves to contrast against the clean white Margom soles. Every shoe is expertly finished with premium calfskin insoles for unparalleled levels of comfort.
From the Transformed range, the navy mesh low top sneakers offer up an alternative design through reinforced heel guards that create a hybrid look and feel. The mesh colourway re-works the mesh inner with white leather panelling for a clean, sophisticated design.
The understated style of the entire SS15 range echoes the ethos of these shoemakers: with the authenticity of their brand upheld through Philibert's uncompromising vision.
Increased attention from the fashion press and, with it, increased success hasn't meant any change in how and where these sneakers are crafted. Portugal was chosen simply because of the country's long footwear heritage, with each pair still handmade there to Philibert's trademark specifications.
A continued base in Amsterdam gives the brand instant access to one of Europe's most stylish cities. If the Dutch way is not to shout about quality, but simply to express it in every aspect of life, then these sneakers are exquisitely Dutch.
The first drop in the Filling Pieces SS15 is now available here at Opumo.
